Youth Gardening
MGYC provides 'hands-on' group and individual learning experiences that promote a love of gardening, develop an appreciation for the environment, and cultivate childrens' growing minds. The curriculums include Junior Master Gardener (early childhood, elementary, and middle school), SC Farm to School, 4-H Activity Guides, SC Farm Bureau, Growing Minds Farm to School, and Kids in Parks. The learnings highlight plant science, growing plants, preparing recipes, and gardening fitness.

Tiny and Wee Sprouts
Tiny and Wee Sprouts are programs within the Anne Springs Close Greenway's nature-based preschool. Master Gardener volunteers teach three- and four-year old children about how the food they eat is grown. Lessons include topics such as how a seed grows, what is required (sunlight, water, air, and good soil), the importance of pollinators, and the value and use of herbs. Children experience different types of vegetables and herbs in two different gardens where they plant and grow a variety of produce that they can take home, including carrots, radishes, lettuces, spinach, sweet potatoes, etc. Maintaining an important volunteer/child relationship at or under four children per volunteer encourages interaction and supports learning.
