Membership For Active and Non-Active Master Gardeners Residing in South Carolina
Active Master Gardeners from other counties within South Carolina -
may become members of Master Gardeners of York County by contacting the President of the Master Gardeners of York County at president@yorkmg.org. Transferees will need to provide a letter of recommendation from their previous Clemson Cooperative Extension Agent and a copy of their Master Gardener certification. Upon payment of dues, the transferee will be accepted as a member of the Master Gardeners of York County.
Non-Active Master Gardeners from other counties within South Carolina -
may become members of Master Gardeners of York County by contacting the President of the Master Gardeners of York County and the local Clemson Extension Agent. Individuals who have been inactive for fewer than 5 years will need to
provide a copy of their Master Gardener certification
complete a new volunteer agreement form
complete a background check
Additional steps such as auditing the Master Gardener Training Classes or participating in volunteer training are at the discretion of the local Clemson Extension Agent. Upon payment of dues individuals will have all rights, responsibilities, and privileges of membership with the exception of providing educational service to the public during the transitional period.
Master Gardeners from other counties within South Carolina who have been inactive for 5 years or more -
must complete the following steps:
provide a copy of their Master Gardener certification
complete a new volunteer agreement form
complete a background check
audit the entire Clemson Extension Master Gardener Training Course
pass the final exam with a score of 70% or higher
There will be no charge for the course, however, individuals will be responsible for purchasing the course manual and any materials required by the local Clemson Extension Agent. Individuals are eligible to participate in the Master Gardeners of York County meetings and programs while auditing the Clemson course or waiting to complete the Clemson requirements for a period of one year. Upon payment of dues individuals will have all rights, responsibilities, and privileges of membership with the exception of providing educational service to the public during the transitional period.
